On September 29, 2024, 4th–6 th graders from Walder Science participated in a field trip to Park 538, where they took part in an educational bird walk organized by JNDC. Along the park’s scenic trails, students learned about fall bird migration and local species, discovering the richness of the natural world just beyond their classroom walls, right in the neighborhood.

The outing sparked excitement and curiosity, as students observed their surroundings and engaged with nature in a hands-on way. Part of JNDC’s growing roster of environmental programs, the walk reflects our commitment to bringing enriching, place-based learning opportunities to the community. We’re grateful for our ongoing collaboration with Walder Science, which makes experiences like this possible.
