Students Plant the Future at Park 538
Students from Walder Science recently participated in a hands-on field trip to Park 538, co-organized by JNDC and the Park 538 Advisory Council. They planted saplings throughout the park and look forward to returning next spring to observe their growth. We’re grateful for Walder’s ongoing support in beautifying and investing in this valued green space.

Business Safety Tour Highlights Local Security Needs
JNDC recently organized a walking tour of local businesses with the help of JUF’s security professional to address neighborhood safety concerns including burglaries and vandalism. . Owners of a select group of Jewish-owned businesses on Touhy and Devon had the opportunity to express their concerns, evaluate their systems, and receive guidance. We thank JUF for supporting the West Rogers Park business community.


JNDC Stands Firm Against Hate, Builds Bridges
In response to the hate-fueled attack on an Orthodox Jewish man in West Rogers Park on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, JNDC joined Alderwoman Debra Silverstein and community partners in calling for vigorous prosecution and unified action. We remain dedicated to building a safer, more connected community by fostering partnerships that enhance public safety and bridge cultural divides.

Walder Science Students Explore Birdlife and Nature at Park 538!
On September 29, 2024, 4th–6 th graders from Walder Science participated in a field trip to Park 538, where they took part in an educational bird walk organized by JNDC. Along the park’s scenic trails, students learned about fall bird migration and local species, discovering the richness of the natural world just beyond their classroom walls, right in the neighborhood.
The outing sparked excitement and curiosity, as students observed their surroundings and engaged with nature in a hands-on way. Part of JNDC’s growing roster of environmental programs, the walk reflects our commitment to bringing enriching, place-based learning opportunities to the community. We’re grateful for our ongoing collaboration with Walder Science, which makes experiences like this possible.


JNDC Partners with JUF to Bring ‘Bagels and Business’ Networking Event to the Far North Side
Jewish Neighborhood Development Council of Chicago (JNDC), in partnership with JUF Professionals Network, welcomed over 40 professionals on September 24, 2024, for a morning of networking, idea-sharing, and building meaningful connections. Held at the Bernard Horwich JCC, the event marked the first time the popular ’Bagels and Business’ program was brought to the Far North Side. Feedback and the size of the crowd affirmed that it was a great success, fostering both community and collaboration. Thank you to JUF for partnering with us and to all who attended.
